Entry Level Construction Testing Technician
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including,
but not limited to soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry
Soil and concrete laboratory testing
Documenting observations daily in written field reports
Interacting and communicating effectively with site contractors, other technicians, project managers and engineers
Ability to understand construction documents, details, and specifications.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
High School Degree
Valid Driver’s license
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Basic computer/tablet, Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities
Attention to detail
Candidates must be able to lift 50-75 pounds on occasional basis and be physically able to
negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside
Ability to pass a background check/driving record
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years’ experience observing contractor activities related to conformance with work plans and drawings
10-hour OSHA Construction training
Nuclear Density Gauge Training and certification
ACI Concrete Field Level 1
VDOT Soils & Aggregate certification
VDOT Asphalt Level I & II certification
ICC Special Inspector certifications
